The 5L Gang

Our Story

Welcome to 5L Premier Pellets, where our passion for agriculture runs as deep as the roots of our family tree. With nine generations of farming expertise behind us and proudly calling Montana home, we're honored to bring you the very best in alfalfa pellets straight from our family farm.

Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Montana, our farm is more than just a place of work—it's our heritage, our livelihood, and our heart. From sunup to sundown, we're out in the fields, tending to our crops with the same care and dedication that our ancestors did before us.

Here in Montana, the land is more than just dirt beneath our feet—it's a part of who we are. With its rich soils, clear skies, and crisp mountain air, it provides the perfect canvas for cultivating alfalfa that's bursting with flavor and nutrition.

At 5L Premier Pellets, we're not just selling feed—we're sharing a piece of our family's legacy with you. Each bag of pellets is a testament to our commitment to quality, sustainability, and the well-being of your animals.

Whether you're feeding your horses, cows, rabbits, or other furry friends, you can trust that 5L Premier Pellets will provide them with the nourishment they need to thrive. After all, we wouldn't settle for anything less for our own animals, and we don't expect you to either.

Thank you for choosing 5L Premier Pellets. We're honored to be a part of your farm family, and we can't wait to see what the future holds together.

A Little History of 5L Name

The story of our family's farming legacy unfolds through generations of hard work, dedication, and a deep love for the land. Our 5L journey begins with the five L's—Lawrence, Lillian, Larry, Linda, and Lenny Mehlhoff—whose namesake gave birth to our beloved ranch in the late 1960s - 5L Ranch.

The five L’s have now grown to seven L’s in the second generation of L's. Larry married Lisa Stands in Paradise Valley in 1983, and they now have the five L children—Laramie, Larisa (married to Zach Oldenburger in 2014), Landon (married to Amy Shibe in 2012), Larinda (married to David Aborn in 2015), and Logan. Most of them play a very vital part of the ranch operation, working in all phases of it, from haying and irrigating to all aspects of the cattle work.

Thriving in the fertile soils of Montana, our family has a long and storied history in agriculture, with roots that stretch back through the annals of time. From the rolling hills of our ancestors' homesteads to the sprawling landscapes of our modern-day farm, farming isn't just a way of life for us—it's in our blood.

As the years passed, the 5L Ranch has moved to several different ranches and we have called Sheridan, MT our home since 1991.  Our blood sweat and tears have turned into a thriving agricultural operation, guided by the principles of hard work, integrity, and a deep respect for the land. Through good times and bad, we've weathered the storms of farming life together, standing firm in our commitment to providing the best for our family and our community.

Here on the ranch, we've seen the seasons come and go, each one bringing its own set of challenges and triumphs. From the first green shoots of spring to the golden hues of autumn harvest, we've worked tirelessly to nurture the land and ensure its bounty for generations to come.

But our story isn't just about the past—it's about the future, too. As we look ahead to the next chapter of 5L Ranch, we're filled with hope and optimism for what lies ahead. With the same pioneering spirit that guided our ancestors, we're ready to embrace whatever challenges and opportunities come our way, confident in our ability to adapt, innovate, and continue our family's farming legacy for many years to come.

Thank you for joining us on this journey through the history of 5L Ranch. We're proud to share our story with you, and we invite you to be a part of our family's farming legacy for generations to come.
